Truckee River Fishing Report 6/4/13

Things are perfect here on the beautiful Truckee River both in California and Nevada. Perfect weather+perfect flows+bugs=great fishing. Of course you still have to work for them here, but as far as the Truckee goes, it probably don’t get much better. Bugs out galore. I’ve been banging fish out mostly on pmd nymphs, and big stones. Still waiting on the epic caddis hatches, but man any day now. A good combo is my Skipper Stone #4-6, followed up with one of my new Canadian Tuxedo’s, (pmd version sz#14). Of course that’s shameless self promotion, but any big small combo should work. Rubberlegs-drakes-or pmd-or caddis. I’m running 2x-3x, you really don’t need anything smaller. Drop offs, fast chutes, pocket water and slots, all have the fish right now. Save the glassy runs until fall and get into some fast water. Ad weight to get your flies in the zone. Never be afraid to loose some rigs. The Canadian Tuxedo’s in pmd, and pt, will be available at Mountain Hardware and Sports in Truckee soon.
