Truckee River Fishing Report 6-4-14

Summer fun is here on the Truckee River in the greater Lake Tahoe-Truckee-Reno area. Been near 80 in Truckee all week. Perfect weather. Flows on the T have dropped to average late summer levels, early, but fishing is good, and if you’ve fished through a “normal spring,” you understand where I’m coming from. On the caddis front-still not epic yet, but should go off any evening. On the green drake front- haven’t really been out searching for them in the evenings, and I have not seen any pop off during the day, yet… Nymph up with the above, goldens, and pmds too. Don’t be afraid to fish on top either, big chubby’s, etc, it can get you some fish, as there are some big goldens flying off now and again. Crayfish, always. Streamers are good as well. We’ve had a few banger streamer days in the last 10 days. One don’t always have to nymph, and if you’re newer to the great sport of ours, that’s how we all used to fish, streamers and dries. Remember, trout are trout, they like looking up for shit and chasing down shit.
