Woke up to a dusting of snow in the Hirsch this morning. Winter is not done. The storm door will be opening, but there may be nothing walking through. It’s late in the year for us. If it were winter there would be storms out in the Pacific, more moisture, and we’d be getting slammed. Still though, its much colder and much more early spring like in Tahoe.
Yesterday, April 1st, flows increased on the Truckee River from 275 cfs, to just over 500 cfs below Boca. It is to meet downstream water demands, or Floriston Rates. Bummer, because Boca was starting to fill up. I thought “they,” were doing a good job of saving our water.
Good news is that the river is up and floatable for me. I will be catching fish and it will be business as usual.
Bad news is that the water is not going to last long. We all know that, so get up and get you fishing on.
You can’t control the things you can’t control.
