Good predictable fishing happening right now on the Truckee River. The river is fishing like late June-early July status. Caddis are trying to pop, thinking they will come off big this next week. Drakes? Good question, haven’t seen or heard from them, yet…Sub-surface is a different story, and you should be fishing the pupa (G-6) and the drake nymph. All the other usual suspects are out, pmds, baetis, etc. Crays are moving about as well as big golden stones. Big small combo? Small-small, you decide. Streamers, sure, one can have a banger day if you try. The whole river is wide open, and both states are fishing well. The Tahoe City to Truckee stretch has water in it. Not sure why. I think the the water master has his head up his ass, but they have the gates open on Tahoe and the fishing can be good along that way. I guess the powers that be do not want to store water on a drought year. Access is a bit of an issue up there, along with looking at night crawler containers dumped along the river, but really not a more beautiful stretch of river anywhere.
