Truckee River Fishing Report 6-7-14

Really good summertime fishing here on the Truckee River in the Lake Tahoe-Truckee-Reno area. The river is in great shape from up along 89 in California, to the Nature Conservancy in Nevada. That’s a lot of water, so if you’re bitching about to many people out fishing, which is what I hear every summer, go somewhere else. Bugs galore if you’re into that type of thing. Green drakes, yes drakes, caddis, yes- yes, pmds, and some big golden stones too. Depending on where you’re at, and what time of day will determine your dry fly success. I did have a day where the river looked like the Henrys Fork last week. You need to stay to zero dark thirty. Nymphing up with all the above in fast water is key. Crays and streamers are good as well. Crays that look like streamers, or streamers that look like crays, you decide. Starting to get pretty warm in the afternoons, if you ain’t catching fish go have a beer and a swim. Pretty good all over the basin right now.
