Rain and snow!
Yes, we need it. Every Winter is finger nail bitting on the Truckee River.
Look for the river to come up, how much? Well, probably not as much as you think. It's 400 cfs right now in Hirschale and going up. She'll come up lots more, but next week the rain will turn to snow, so it should drop back down quick.
Usually the best fishing we have our times like this. The Truckee River fishes good on the rise, but very good on the drop, much like a steelhead river. This week, if I don't have any trips, I'll be fishing.
When the river comes back down in Nevada, the dry fly fishing will be back on. There's been unbelievable blue wing hatches on cloudy days. Lots of heads up.
Happy hunting, looks like the rain Gods listened.
