Welp, Indian Summer if officially over on the Truckee River. Embrace Winter because it's coming.
The great news, November is a good streamer month. I heart fishing streamers. We start getting those big post-spawn brown trout. Of course nymphing can be good too. You have to start targeting the frog water. They move into a bit faster water to feed as the water warms mid-day, but the slow walking pace water is your friend these days.
Eggs and worms and the small nymphs this time of year now.
If you're streamer fishing understand what fish are feeding on, just like nymphs...
You have Crayfish, Sculpins, and other fish. Rough fish, dace, shiners, and juvenile trout.
Most of the above take on the color of the river bottom. If the bottom is dark, the forage fish will be dark. Dark on top, with a lighter under belly.
Happy hunting.
