Truckee-Tahoe-Reno-Fishing Report-7-5-15

Finally a little cooler weather and afternoon thunderstorms have been helping.

If you can find some places to fish other than the Truckee River good on you.

Higher elevation lakes have been good, calibaetis still mostly.

Bass in the local lakes have been good, Prosser, Boca, and Stampede. Most of your normal trout nymphs work, crayfish patterns are a must have though.

Carp has been really good down on the Nevada side of the Truckee River. That is the ultimate challenge on the fly rod, and highly addictive.

I’m looking forward to the opener, October 1st at Pyramid Lake in Nevada. That will be our saving grace this fall unless for some reason El Nino produces some serious early season rains that will add volume to the Truckee River.

There actually is a lot of stuff to fish other than the Truckee River.
