TRUCKEE RIVER FLY FISHING: REPORT-2-14-22

Fly Fishing Truckee California Reports

Much of the same still here on the Truckee River.

If you like 60’s in Truckee in February, well this is for you. Will it snow again. I certainly hope so.

Flows and weather have largely stayed the same since the beginning of January. It was warm this week. When is the pattern going to change? We need some more snow or it’s going to be a long summer. We’re still just a little halfway through Winter, and March as everyone knows, can be a big snow producer. We’re currently sitting at right around average for snowpack, even with a record of over 30 days between the last precipitation.

So, same type of Winter fishing. Nymph with the small stuff, do some streamer fishing, and if we do get some cloud cover, see if you can find some heads poking up eating bugs.

We are getting out of the coldest time of the year. March, things should really start lighting up.
