MARCH IS ALWAYS A GREAT MONTH FOR FLY FISHING ON THE TRUCKEE RIVER.
Trouts are coming out of the Winter funk, and the dry fly and streamer fishing can be exceptional. We have some weather this week, which is good for both. Of course nymphing, Euro, and bobber, are good. Flows are good. Almost 400 cfs here in the Hirsch. Up from about 325 earlier in the week.
I’ll still be doing some float trips down on the Nevada side of the Truckee River, but more and more, in Spring, I spend more time on the Ca side. Sometimes the fishing right here in Hirschdale can be better than anywhere on the entire river.
Flows should get up to about 400 cfs, here in the Hirsch. Higher as you go downriver. Good flows.
Still have 2 spots left for this Saturday’s Streamer Clinic on the Truckee River.
