Rolling through July on the Truckee River.
Good solid fishing. Flows have been steady at around 450 cfs here in the Hirsch, higher near stateline, and a bit lower though Reno. We’ve had a few hot days, but still not as bad as last summer with the smoke and heat.
Water temps have really not been an issue anywhere on the Ca side yet this summer. Warm down in Reno of course, so you just gotta get out there early.
We mainly nymphing right now. Gotta get in that fast water and try to poke them out. Crayfish, and golden stones for my anchor flies, and something smaller up top. Anything that looks like a caddis pupa, or some kinda mayfly nymph will work. They’ll eat a hundred different flies if you put in front of their face.
