Truckee River Fly Fishing Report November 6 2022

Brown Trout Truckee River

Winter has set in, with more rain and snow on the way for the Truckee River.

A very good start to Winter for November. Good rain and snow last week, and more on the way this week. Looks like we went right into Winter.

In Ca, on the Truckee River, water temps have crashed with this cold weather. Look to hit them fish on the head. Fish the frog water. Look for trouts to move into riffles, or heads of runs when the water warms mid-day, and the bugs start coming off. Look for slow walking pace water about 3-5 feet deep. Nymph with the small stuff.

In Nevada fishing has been good with this colder/ stormier weather. The steamer fishing was good last week, and should probably stay that way. Flows are pretty good down in the desert, and water temps are not as cold as the California side of the river. Good stuff to go hit down there all Winter long. It’s a totally different river down there compared to the Ca side. Usually no snow, and warmer temps, and some big ass fish.
