Cooler weather the last few days on the Truckee River.
80’s are way better then 90’s. Cool in the mornings too.
Flows have come up a bit out of Boca. Sitting at about 520 cfs here in Hirschdale. Up about 100 cubes from last week. Pretty perfect flows. Good flows down on the Reno side too. Skinny from Truckee to Tahoe City.
Your best fishing is from Boca down in through Reno. The Reno side is fishing very well. Seems counter intuitive to go fish in the heat, but if you get in there early, it’s good fishing. Probably fishing as good as before the first drought. So like pre-2014. Lots’ of folks out in there too though. Ain’t no secret anymore.
Think crayfish, stones, caddis, and smaller mayflies. Fish the slower water early, fish the faster water when it warms up. In Reno, I’d fish the faster water anytime of the day.
