Warm above average temps at least through the beginning of next week on the Truckee River in the greater Lake Tahoe-Truckee-Reno area. Fishing has been descent all over the river, both states. Good news, the spring blue wings are out in force on the lower sections of river. Not to many fish on top, but with some expected cloud cover this week, that should get them going. I’ve heard talk of some skwala stones out, but haven’t seen any personally yet. Skwalas happen more through Reno and up through the California side. Nymphing with the above combo is a good bet, and should work right on through spring. Streamer fishing has been descent, waters still cold, so its been hit and miss. Flows are very good, rivers a tad off color in the afternoons with some snow melt. Spring is a great time for large fish on this river. I never bang out numbers of fish in the spring, but the quality is there.
