Truckee River Fishing Report 4/3/12

We actually had two sunny nice days in row, a first it seems, and fishing is good in both states, on the Truckee River in California, and Nevada. Skwalas and b-dubs are out and about, making for some interesting dry fly fishing. Nymphing with the said patterns will produce fish. The streamer game is descent, if you stick at it, you’ll get a few whacks. Flows are purrrfect, through Truckee, in the Hirsch, and West and East of Reno. April is typically a good month on the Truckee, at least for large fish, that is, if the weather cooperates. Be prepared, wind, snow, rain, and sunshine can all happen in an April’s day fishing. I had the good fortune of taking out Nick today. This is Nick winning the battle on a Truckee River rainbow.
