Truckee River Fishing Report 7-14-14

Good-good-good fishing here on the Truckee River in the greater, Lake Tahoe-Truckee-Reno area. It’s hot, been a hot July, and I’ve had to wake my ass up early to go guide everyday, but hey life’s good. Early bird gets the worm. Hot in the afternoons on the river, water temps are warm. Please go fish early, when it gets warm, go home, or better yet, go for a swim. The G-6 is still crushing fish, everyday it works. Crays and stones also are good. You can’t go to big with your stones right now, bigger is better. My Skipper Stone in a sz #4 matches the big nocturnal stones we get about this time on the Truckee. Nymph up with the Skipper Stone, and G-6. Fast-fast water is the key. Flows are still good on the river, especially here in the Hirsch, in fact they’re about perfect for good wade fishing.
