Truckee River Fishing Report 8/20/13

Fishing is still remaining good here on the Truckee River in Truckee-Reno-Tahoe going into the last part of August. Doug O and I just had our nymphing class this last weekend, hopefully you guys that attended enjoyed it. LOOK FOR ONE MORE IN OCTOBER. It is the most comprehensive nymph class you will find. It’s a little warmer than last week up here, smokey too. Every afternoon we get the smoke rolling in from the Forresthill fire. High stick’n it still the way to go. Fast oxyegenated water is the key. Crays, stones, caddis, and mayflys. Streamers have been effective in low light hours, sculpins and crays. Hoppers are out too. Hopper dropper set ups are very effective this time of year if you’re sick of the nymph rig. Flows are good in both states, and I’ve been back and forth stick’n fish just about everywhere.
