Back to having some nice cool weather on the Truckee River. High's not getting out of the 70's is pretty nice for July. Of course, the fishing has been pretty good.
Flows have been great all up and down the river. 625 cfs here in Hirschdale. If you could pick a perfect flow, that would probably be it. Pretty nice flows down in through Reno as well. We really haven't had to worry about hot water temps this summer. We make it out of the next few weeks and it's smooth sailing. Overnight lows will begin to cool and actually get cold mid-August. Thinking no Hoot Owls this Summer.
Nymphing is the way to go. Look for fish to sit back in the slower water early, and move into faster water as the sun gets up and it warms. By mid-morning you're looking for current and pocket water.
It's crayfish time, swing 'em, drift 'em, swim them. They like that chuck of meat this time of year.
