Solid fly fishing on the Truckee River.
Nice cool weather and healthy flows. We're having a great Summer. No insane heat, fires and smoke. A stark difference from some past Summers.
So get up and enjoy the Summer fishing on the Truckee River. Soon it will be snowing..
Fow now, think all things crayfish. Our trout gorge on them most of the Summer. We have some nocturnal stones going too. Those are the big stoneflies you see all over the granite rocks. Caddis, and smaller mayflies rounding up the nymphing menu.
Look for fish to be in slower water early. They'll move into the faster water as the sun gets up. If I was on the Nevada side of the Truckee River, I'd target the fast water much earlier than I would in Ca. It is much warmer on the NV side.
Of course, your tight line rig is the way to go.
Happy hunting.
