Happy Fathers Day. Good day grilling and watching the Giants spank the Dodgers.
Still feeling and fishing like spring on the Truckee River.
Big fish here and there, not a lot of small ones, and perfect weather. Been in the low 70’s about everyday. 1,170 cfs here in Hirschdale. The river has come way down. Still a bit big, but really not all that bad. She’s getting a lot more wadable, meaning there’s more fishable water opening up.
We’ve been getting some good ones. Don’t expect a lot, but the ones we’ve been getting have all been pretty big fish. Once, the water comes down, they’ll be more fish, less big ones.
As far as nymphs, think less worms, and more bugs. Stones, crayfish, caddis, drakes, etc. The river will explode with bugs here in about a week. Caddis hatches oughta happen soon.
So get on it, fishing’s good.
