Feeling the heat on the Truckee River. Mid 90's every afternoon in the Hirsch, with a shot at a thunderstorm or 2.
Good fishing if you get out in the mornings and can wade in the faster pocket water. Good luck if you can't. Probably be tough.
Flows are very good, and that's keeping water temps in the healthy range. 650, here in Hirschdale. And good news, 600 cfs, in Reno. Reno is the water you really have to worry about in the afternoons getting too warm. Carry a thermometer and check it after about noon. Even in on the CA side I would. Most especially up along Glenshire and such.
We get heat waves every Summer. More normal highs for us are mid 80's. We have a 69 in the 7 day forecast for a high. So things should cool off.
Greens Drakes have been out in certain sections of river. Stay until dark if you're looking to find them. No big caddis hatches in the evenings yet, but that's only a few days away -I bet.
Always think crayfish if you're nymphing, caddis pupa, and right now drakes. Golden Stones should be out flying here, but we don't get much of a big hatch, they're more interested in the nymphs.
