Spring has sprung on the Truckee River. Early.
High of 68 today in Truckee. This March might go down as our warmest March on record.
We are way ahead of schedule fishing wise. It feels like mid-late April. I've seen caddis, small stoneflies, and of course skwalla stoneflies. March Brown mayflies should come off very shortly.
So it's a smorgasbord of bugs to nymph with. We've basically had our runoff. The river is still up, but not far off of normal Summer flows. 800 and change here in Hirschdale. Summer it's generally 600 cfs.
I still don't think Winter is over. We'll get some late Spring snow and rain. For now, take advantage of the unbelievable weather and great early season fishing.
