Summers up and gone on the Truckee River. A little cooler weather too.
High's in the 70's this weekend, 60's by the end of next week.
Pretty good solid fishing. Lots of dinks, with some nice fish showing up here and there. Typical Indian Summer time of year fishing. You can rack up some numbers of fish, and hopefully by the end of the day, you hooked a few good ones.
I'd fish Summertime water until it gets colder. Trouts won't move into the frog water until November'ish here in Ca, and a bit later on the Nevada side. That's unless it gets really cold in October and starts snowing. I'm still fishing faster riffles, slots, etc. If you get out real early then hit some glassy type water, but for the main part, faster water is still your best bet.
So mainly nymphing still. Hit the streamers and see what happens. Dry droppers a good option too. Remember, smaller on the nymphs, but crayfish are still on the menu.
