Truckee River Fishing Report 7/13/13

The Truckee River has been firing again this week in the Reno-Truckee-Tahoe area. Both sides California, and Nevada the fishing in on. Fish are in all their fishy spots, which this time of year is the faster oxygenated water. Daytime temps are back in my threshold of mid 80’s to lower 90’s, while nightime temps are back in the upper 30’s. Big golden stones, crays, and caddis seem to be the main food items. Of course, there’s pmds, and little yellow stones, but when them crays and stones get going, it’s hard for them to pass up a big meal. My Baby Daddy, and Doug O’s Stonedaddy are tops, and on the stonefly tip, my Skipper Stone in golden, and Pat’s Rubberlegs are getting the bulk of my work done. Get good tight line drifts, take of the indo if you need too to keep your flies in the zone. Caddis are out in the evenings if you want some dry fly action. Streamers are best in low light situations this time of year, early and late. Get the hall pass from the wife and come up and fish.
