Truckee River Fishing Report 3/13/14

We’ve been on wind hold for about 3 days up here in Lake Tahoe-Truckee-Reno on the Truckee River.  Cold East winds 20-30 miles per hour. East winds are what you want out at Pyramid, and folks crushed them out there this week, but on the river thats a different story. Winds are gone now and today was business as usual. The bugs are out in force and should continue this week with warm air temps and rising water temps. Fish will get in their feeding lanes and well.. Blue wings, skwalas and some early spring caddis have been making the menu on the river. Any and all techniques will work this time of year, streamers, indos, dry droppers, and tight lining, or American Nymphing as I like to call it. Spring is always the time when we get these nasty winds, can make a man go crazy, but when it lays down, we’re right back in business.
