Thinking Spring has sprung. Just about perfect weather on the Truckee River.

Pretty descent high Spring flows. Around 1,400 cfs here in Hirschdale and higher as you go down river. Not bad clarity. 1,400, ain’t too big. For the average weekend warrior angler maybe. Look for places trout can get out of current. That will be close to the bank. Slow walking pace water.

When the waters dirty, hard to beat a worm, egg, crayfish, rubber legs. If the water is on the clearer side, then fish your normal nymph patterns.

This will be a great month of fishing on the Truckee River. The water will be high, but we’ll get some big dogs.
